Bath and Body Works Haul

As I was getting my eyebrow done today the girl doing them informed me that Bath and Body was having a sale. I don't go in there much unless I need to buy a gift or they have a sale. So they had their candles 50% off, Selected hand soaps $3 and Selected body Mist $5 plus I had a $10 off $30

I had never bought their candles before and I had been wanting to try them for awhile but at $20 a candle its definitely a splurge. With the sale and coupon I paid $6 and some change for the large candle. I also got a sleeve for it similar to this one but mine is the taller kind.
Lately I have fallen in love with this mist. They seem to last for a long time and I spray it like 5x each time I use them! I would have bought the matching lotions but they where sold out.

I love their hand soaps and whenever they go on sale I try to buy more than one. I prefer the foam ones    but I could not find the pictures of them online and I was to lazy to take my own. I got Mango Berry Sparkle, Fresh Picked Pears, and Fresh Picked Tangerines.

Christmas Gift

I saw these at Journeys about one month before Christmas and I knew they where the only thing i wanted for Christmas. I emailed my husband the link with the size (a kid size since i can where those and they are cheeper than women size). I week before Christmas I asked him about it and he had not gotten them. Matter a fact when he first got the email, a month ago, the link did not work but he never mentioned that. N/e he ended up paying more than I would have for them but they did get here on the 24th!

They are super comfy and I just love the bows!

Our 2012 Christmas ornament

Last Christmas for our ornament I was looking for two doves but did not come across one I liked. This year I was looking for the same thing so I Googled it and found that Hallmark is doing a serious called "The 12 days of Christmas" and this year happens to be day 2 which is TWWWOOOO TURTLE DOVES!!! As soon as I saw it I fell in love with it. What do you think? Do any of you get new ornaments to represent something in your family?

Thrifty Find

I love ornaments and each year sinceI have been married I have always tried to find and ornament for Raul and I. Ounce Mason was born we started getting him ornaments. When ever I find a unique ornament and at a bargain I have to have it. Well at by boutique (Goodwill) I came across this glass ornament I just thought it was so pretty. I love the little swirl at the top and the different color glass all melted together. Looks expensive but I only paid $2.99 for it. I'm thinking ill put a cute ribbon on, or hang it in one of those individual ornament hangers. I would hate for it to fall off the tree n shatter a good possibility with little ones in the house. For right now I'm looking for a unique box to store it. I have to say the picture does it no justice but you get the idea.

The News

I love watching CNN and my favorite guy is Anderson Cooper ...I have to say I have a little crush on the guy! When my husband deploys I avoid the news as much as I can. I just hate to hear all the bad news and like to stay in my bubble as my husband calls it. This week I just had to watch what had happen. As I was reading my heart just ached for all the families dealing with the loss of their children. I thought about my little boy and I just cried. Such innocence in his eyes, such joy at the world he sees. I got to the point where I just could not read about it anymore or see pictures of all those babies. I cant help but think about who these kids would have become. Even though their lives where cut short I know Gods plan is greater and beyond my understanding. Praying for healing for everyone involved.

Now back to my bubble I go.

Product Rave

St Ives Apricot Scrub Blemish Control

I came across this product when I finished my Clinique scrub and wanted to try something new. I found that the Clinique scrub was a little to abrasive no matter how gentle I scrubbed it still felt harsh. I love to YouTube products and hear other peoples favorite products. I came across one review on St Ives Apricot Scrub and decided to give it a try. I bought it at Walmart for about $4. I have to say from  the first time I used it I really enjoyed it. It makes my face feel fresh and the small grains in it are not to harsh but seem to do the job. I can also feel like theres enough of them where it does not feel like your trying to move just one grain for your whole face. As for the blemish control I don't break out to often but in the last month that I have been using it I do notice my skin looking better.  This is definitely a product I would repurchase and for the price I would say it was well worth it.

Cream Corn Dip

I don't know if I have shared this recipe before but it's supper easy and it was given to me by my fellow Army wife Leslie.

1 can cream corn
1 can whole corn drained
8 oz of cream cheese
Frito chips

Put first three ingredients in a crock pot I would say takes about a hour or less half way through stir it. The corn Frito chips are great for dipping

I'm making this tonight for our works ornament exchange.

Goodwill Finds

So Sunday I headed out to my "boutique" see what I could find. The color of the week was red so everything I got was 50% since it was all red tags.

I picked up some sweaters for work , I have scrubs to wear but when it's cold it's just not thick enough fabric so casual clothes like the sweaters work great.

I got a couple of blouses one included a Nine West blouse with the tag still on!

This was my outfit for the day.  I got the shirt n Steve Madden boots at the "boutique" the leggings (pack of two) I got at a new store in town called Bargain Hunt they sell new stuff at a discount. My  whole outfit cost about $15.

So today I experienced a total Fail with my little guy.
Background story at the beginning of the school year they have us a calendar of events well that's what I go by.
Last week they sent a paper home saying it was going to be pajama day and polar express day. Well this mama did not notice the date had changed I just assume it was going to be for 12/14 that's Tomorrow since that's whats on my original calendar of events. Well this morning as I walked in to school first thought " masons teacher sure is dressed weird today" looked around some more and noticed everyone is wearing pjs!!! Not only that but the teacher informs me that they have to school on friday they are off for the holidays. Makes sense why pajama day was today and not tomorrow!
So what did I do ... Called work that I was going to be late! I could not get over the thought of all his classmates wearing pjs and then here is my kid with no pjs. I went home picked up some pjs and the teacher gifts I had bought for Christmas ( luckily I did plan those ahead of time) and drove back to school.

Ok you might be thinking that's my fail but it's not!

I had picked up two pjs since I know my child is picky and is better if I give him a choice.

I asked "Mason do you want to wear pjs like your friends"

"Ok choose the one you want"

He chooses his grinch pjs

I'm changing him

Mason- "mommy you FORGOT"

Yes ppl my heart sunk " yes baby I did forget And I'm very sorry"

In the process of changing him not only did he remind me I forgot but he told me 3x!!!

But being late to work worth it just to make sure my little guy is taken care even if I did forget. Makes me think how many more times this will happen!

Has stuff like this happen to you as a mom???

Thrifty fashion

If you know me you know how I love bargains. Most of the items I wear come from my favorite "boutique" ....The Goodwill. In 2010 when I came home to Georgia my mom introduced me to some thrift shops around town. Instantly I was hooked. I realized I could find my favorite brands super cheep and in great condition if I just really looked. Finding great items at low prices is like a drug to me. It's very exciting! I tell friends that go for the first time to not give up if they don't find something that first day. To me I find it that its about some luck and going to them frequently. For example we just got a Goodwill in town (insert super excited face here) so I know at my Goodwill I find it best to go on a Sunday. They tag their stuff with a color and each week the color changes which means the color of the week is half off the item. Well a worker told me their color changes every Sunday so if I go a Sunday I am more likely to find more items half of than a Saturday when ppl have already bought most if the stuff during the week. Every time I have gone on a Saturday I dont have luck.

So this is what I wore today
Earrings- Premier Jewelry (free after hosting a party)
Scarf- free for hosting a Premier Jewelry party
Cardigan- Sears on sale for $3.99
Belt- Goodwill about $3
JCrew Corduroy pants-Goodwill $4.99
Steve Madden boots- Goodwill $5.99

Burts Farm/ Amicalola Falls

We had a wonderful weekend with friends and family. We drove to Dawsonville Ga to go to a pumpkin patch at Burts Farm. The kids loved it they have tons of pumpkins to choose from it was hard to decide on which one to bring home. They had a hayride where  you drive by the pumpkin and sunflower fields. They had a cute little are where they have some talking pumpkins tell you thank you for coming.

After the pumpkin farm we went to Amicalola Falls State Park  For a picnic lunch. They had tables and a playground for the kids to play on. After lunch we headed out for the hike. It was very nice and it reminded me of trails in Hawaii. The weather was perfect for this.

This was the bottom of the falls

We made it to the top

My friend gave us this scavenger hunt at the beginning of our hike. I thought this was very cute and Mason enjoyed searching for items on his list.

I remember when blogging use to be something I did all the time during pregnancy and the first months of Mason life. Sharing all of our experiences sitting down at the end of the day Journaling what we did. Little by Little the time I have committed to blogging has been dwindling and I wonder how other mamas do it with more than one child in the home. When I was a stay at home mom it was something I could do on a regular bases, but now working full time and chasing around a PRESCHOOLER (yes I can not believe that) I completely enjoy early bed times, quite time, and watching my grown up shows minus Desperate Housewives "sigh". Every time I write something new I always say Im going to keep writing this time but yet again I find myself months later saying the same thing. enough about that....

Lately I have been thinking about this a lot;

I remember in the beginning of my journey as a mom questioning Gods purpose for. "Is this it for me being a stay at home mom FOREVER?" Wonderful ladies from my church playgroup where very encouraging and that this feeling would pass it was just a season of my life. Four years later working full time I completely miss being a home maker full time. I enjoyed teaching my son, preparing every meal for him (even though it was time consuming I loved making his bento lunches)and my husband. Four years ago I thought there was more out there for me not realizing then how happy that role made me. Im grateful that God provided me with a Husband that is able to take care of us and after some hard times we realized how we took those days for grated. Now we find ourselves dreaming of getting back to those times. Looking back I know we have to travel this journey that we are on if not how else would you know what we love doing what we are meant to do. Enough looking back at what it was!
Im looking forward to what it will be, how more amazing the journey will be because of the past. Its so much more significant now.

Super Mario Birthday Candy Bar

This was the candy bar I set up for Masons Bday

I used a mold for Mustaches, Jelly beans for Yoshi eggs, Twizzlers for the beanstalk plant, fire balls for fire power, and i got the Kellogs Mario gummies too.

Toad pops are marshmallows dipped in red chocolate and used white sprinkles for the spots.

I got these flowers after easter .50 cents for a bag of 10 and I got three bags

Wii remote chocolate remotes used a mold I got from Amazon. Ended using 4 bags of chocolate that iI got at Michael's. This was my favorite it added a nice touch to our Mario theme.

I loved how it turned out. The wall decals in the background of our table I got from Amazon. The goodie bags i got from the Dollar Store. The three cady jars I got from Hobby Lobby when they where having 50% off their glass wear.

A behind the scenes shot of my sister in law doing the Toad Pops she was a great help and made most of the pops.

Piranha Plant

I made this for Masons Super Mario Part. I love how it turned out and it looked great at the party. I used a styrofoam ball cut a "V" and hollowed out the middle to put candy in it. I got the styrofoam ball at hobby loby and used a 40% coupon on it, ended paying around $5. I painted it read, cut circles and triangles from white felt (.23 cents a sheet used two)  to make the spots and the teeth. For the stem I used a dowel (.50 cents) and covered it with green felt (.23 cents a sheet).  I cut leaves from the remanding green felt and stitch some details the leaves with thread i already had at home. I went to Lowes and found the cheapest PVC pipe they had which was around $6. I spray painted it green (.99cents can from Walmart. I made a whole in the center of the head to put the dowel in and glued it in place. To keep the dowel in place in the pvc pipe I used more styrofoam ($1) stuck the dowel in the center and glued it to the pvs pipe.  To prevent it from going through the bottom of the pvc pipe I glued cardboard at the bottom

so this little project cost around $13

Birtday crafts

So here are a couple of things i have been working on for Mason Super mario Birthday

I wanted to blow up this image and trace it to use it for a game but I was not able to find a projector to use. I had to just grab a pencil and try drawing it. I have to say it turned out pretty good ill share another picture when I am done coloring it.

This is for some Mario and Luigi hats. I got the template from here.

This is the crowns im working on for the little girls. I got the template from a foam crown they sell at Michael's.

This is the next thing im working any idea what it will be? Well its going to hold some candy, ill post a pic of the finish product soon.

Lots of things to finish up this week

Monday, April 23, 2012

So lately I have been a busy bee and stressing out because...tun tun tun tuuunnn Mason is turning 4!! I first wanted to make him a super hero party but the last couple of months he just gets more more in to MARIO! I have been online looking for all sorts of ideas and Pintrest has become my bff. Here are what I have and some ideas so far.

The first things I did was stock up on some candy after Halloween when it went on sale at Walmart got most of the bags for .50cents to .99cents. This candy will be for the piñata.

At our local party store im getting tables and chairs some decorations, the piñta, and moonwalk

From looking online a lot of the Super Mario stuff is pricey so I figured I can stick to the main colors, red, blue, green, and yellow.

There are a couple of crafts I need to do i want to make some hats and center pieces for the tables hopefully I can get those done this week.

We had an amazing Easter this year. We went to church Pastor shared a wonderful message and then we came home to get ready for our easter egg hunt. I love having people over and spending time together with others so by far this has been the best Easter for me because we had 15 kids over at our house! I absolutely loved it and if we are still in Rome next year want to do it all over again. It was hilarious to see the adults get into the fun too

Photo Club outing

Recently I join our local Photo Club because "I needed a Hobby!" :). I have had my camera, a Nikon D60, for about three years now and I'm still very new at using it. I figure this would be a good way to learn more about it and have more opportunities to take pics since it seems that on my own I never have time for it. This is the first outing I have gone out to.

What did I learn during this outing... kinda boring taking pictures of stuff. I definitely enjoy it more taking pics of moving things. I just don't have the eye for this kinda stuff yet but maybe in a couple of "years" I will!
