Marriage Retreat @ Turtle Bay

They had two very pretty Parrots in the lobby.

This was a trust game we played we had to lead our partners around the resort. When Raul did it he took me to the bushes!

This was our room was soooo comfy and we wanted to bring their pillows home with us!

View to the pool from our room

JUne 26 and 27 Raul and i went to a marriage retreat at Turtle Bay sponsored by the Army.  It was not the best retreat but we did learn a few things. The resort was soooo nice.  Our room as nice we actually thought about bring their pillows home because they were so They payed for us to have 5 meals and it was a buffet. We have never ate sooo much in two days. We definitely need to save up and go back when Mason is older. After the classes we got free time we stayed in our room since it was either really sunny or windy and we could not really do much with Mason. We did walk around and see the resort. I wish we could have gone swimming but Mason is still to little.  I will post pics soon

5 weeks

Mason at 5 weeks and a couple of days

The two "boys" in my life

Since Mason came home

We have had Mason home for about 3 weeks now. There has been lots of ajusting to do but we could not be happier to have him with us. The first week we had him he slept good at night woke up about 2 or three times. Starting the second week we could not get him to sleep all night in his own crib. So we have figured the only way he will sleep thru the night is if he is in bed with us. I really dont want him getting use to that but as of right now we are getting much more sleep than last week and its easier for me to feed him since he is in the bed with us. I dont think Raul sleeps much because he is paranoid that he will squish  Mason.

He has been eating real good. He has his days where it seems he wants to eat every hour then the next day he is back to his usual two three hour routine. We had a doctors appointment Thursday and he weighed in at 5lbs 8oz. The pediatrician said he is doing real good.  Right now our only consern is that because he was born two months early his retina have not developed all the way yet. He had his eyes checked when he left the NICU and we had to go back today. They have improved but they are still not fully developed. We have to go back on the 11th to get them checked again since he will be at full term by then. We are definitely praying that they do improve so he does not have any problems with them.

Since he came early I did not get to have a baby shower so some of Rauls coworkers had a BBQ for us two weeks ago and then this past Saturday we had one at our house. We definitely want to thank everyone for helping us welcome home Mason.

Our friends Mike and Leslie found out this week they are having a baby boy so we are very excited for the and cant wait to meet him. Mason and him will be about 5 months apart. Also, our friends Danny and Jeannie will be moving back to the mainland soon. We hate that they are moving since we have not known each other for very long but thats what happens when your a military family. We wish yall the best and hopefully we will run into each other again KIT.

Thursday and Friday we will be attending a marriage retreat at Turtle Bay Resort. We r really excited about that. Well I know Raul is excited about staying at Turtle bay and Im looking forward to the work shops maybe we will learn something.

Masons Nurse

So here is what happen in the last week.......

I started boarding at the hospital on Saturday June 1st. It was kinda boring being there but it was all for Mason. I was able to nurse him every single feed. He has done so well latching on. We did have some issues with one side he was being very picky. The lactation consultant at Tripler helped us a lot so now we dont have a problem with that. On my first day there i had a shared room with another mom but she never shown up. For the rest of the week i was moved to a room by myself which that was nice. I had a hard time sleeping because the bed was sooooo hard. The first couple of days i kept missing the cafeteria hours cause usually thats when i was with Mason. Finally I got the hang of things.  When ever mason would wake up the would call the room phone and i would go to the NICU feed him, burp him, and changed him then i would go back to the room. He was waking up about every 2-3 hours except for the last two days we were there it was like every hour i was sooo tired....i still am and probably will be for awhile. Since i got there they took the tube in his nose out and i was kinda scared because i did not want him losing weight because he was not getting enough but he gained weight every single day. On his last night there he weighed in at 4lbs 16oz. In order for him to get released he had to be in his car seat for 90min with out any problems, on the first attempt he failed because his head dropped which closed his airways. That day i felt like we took a step back after doing so good all week. So the doctors decided they would try the car seat again on friday since he would be 35 weeks and thank GOD he passed. So then Friday he was able to room in with me. I was kinda nervous because it was the fist night i was spending the night with him. Raul was there too so i felt more comfortable if something were to happen. After a month long wait we got to bring our son home. We are super excited words cant even describe it.

Daddy showing where Mason slept & the drool spot

Last night was our first night home and i think we did pretty good. Since its the weekend and Raul does not have to work we double tagged Mason thru the night. I would nurse him and then Raul would burp and changed his diaper. Mason slept much better than the previous night so we were able to get a little more sleep. He woke up about three time during the night. He really does not cry much unless he is supper hungry. He starts fusing and he makes all sort of noises (he must be talking to himself its funny), but that usually lets me know he is hungry.

Probably this jumped around a lot but its a weeks worth of events.
