#2

After much talk we decided that we need another child in our life. We are super excited that our family is growing. Little Man has been an only child for six years and for the past two years has been talking a lot about having a sibling. To him his cousins and friends are his brothers and sisters. Now that we are having a baby he is super excited. He talks about it every day and has drawn up a poll that we can vote what name we like best. We find out what we are having tomorrow and he will be tagging a long with us to find out the news. Mostly EVERYONE has said girl but if you know our families they love making boys!

Chore Chart

I have been on Pinterest for awhile trying to find a chore chart for my little guy. Finally I came across this one. You can go to that web site and she offers a free printable. I decided to just make my own since there where a few things I wanted to change front the original and this is what I came up with
I made one for the morning and afternoon and my son checks them off as he completes them. Work for hire is the ones that I will "pay" him for. We use poker chips to pay and he can trade them in for goodies or money.

This is the things he can trade in his "money" for. Along with the chores I added behavior to it. He gets rewarded one token for good behaviore and  he gets fined one token for bad behavior.

Since this is a new system in our house we have not nail down the consistency of it. Im hopping that by him having a visual of what needs to be done I don't have to tell him everything I just point to the chart.  For now I have them in sheet protectors and stuck them to our pantry where we can all easily see it and my son can reach it. He uses a dry erase maker to check off his chores and on Sunday is when I pay him.

You can can go to this link and print it if you would like to use it for your family, or just use it to inspire you to create your own

No Dye Tie Dye Playdate

I set up a little play date for us to tie dye some shirts. I have never done this so I scouted good ol' Pinterest for a tutorial. A friend found a great one with step by step instructions and pictures. You can go to Ricochet and Away Blog to make your own T-shirts.

Favorite Books

So I thought I would share some of Masons favorite books that he enjoys us reading them again and again. Im sure some are familiar and if not maybe you can add it to your reading list. We get the majority of our books from thrift stores and check them out of the library. If we enjoy a certain book we check out then I'm on the look out for it at the thrift stores. They usually have very good deals on books like less than $1 each! The best bargain I have found is 8 Magic Tree House books for my nephew. Four where hard covers and one had just came out and I grabbed them for .90. cents!!! There are times we just buy them from Barnes and Nobles which now that Mason is learning to read I have found that they have some early reader books for $4.

Adventures of Splat The Cat by Rob Scotton

What Happens When I Talk to God? by Stormie Omartian

Boo Boo Bear's Mission by Mary Linda Sather

Fire! Fuego! Brave Bomberos by Susan Middleton Elya

How I Became a Pirate by Melinda Long

Caps for Sale by Esphyr Slobodkina

Fly Guy Series by Tedd Arnold

Game Review

So a couple weeks ago I was looking for games to help Mason with sight words. I came across this game "POP for Sight Words" and thought it would be good practice for him. The game consist of picking a popcorn and it has a sight word on it, each player reads the word and gets to keep it if they read it correctly. If they don't know it you put it to side and can review them after. The player with the most popcorn wins but.... There are some pieces that say "POP" if a player gets it they have to put all their popcorn back in the container. Mason loves it when I get POP because then he has more cards than me. This has been helping him read his words and lets me know what words we need to work on. I got the game at ToysRus for about $7.99.
